This time we found it and removed it from her leg.Irealized the picture is sort of blurry for the tick's mugshot. It looks just like the one 3rd from the left in this line up. Read all about it. Looks like this was a nymph of a blacklegged tick - bear or deer.
I even used my metric measuring tool to determine that it was 1/10th of a cm. In class we measure some body parts - all school appropriate to estimate some metric lenghts. I have found that 1cm is about the width of my left fingernail. Finally something I taught came in handy! Now if only I could find a dissecting microscope to look a bit closer.
I've got the little guy wrangled on the bathroom counter, if you want to come over and see it. He didn't survive the acetone bath I gave him.
