Perfect Names

On my solo bike rides thes summer I've had some time to think about things. I can't tell you how perfect the aliases are for my 2 children.

Early Bird is always early! Every morning he is the first one up, and he's happy about it. One day last week he came into our room and said (in his perkiest voice) "Daddy, there's 2 sixes on the clock and an O." When we're getting ready to go somewhere, he's the first one with his shoes on (and umbrella ready when it might rain) and ready to walk out the door. He's been early since the minute he tried to be born!

Berry Princess is not so early, but she really is a princess. When we go to the local wading pool, she drops the big beach ball and then stands there and whines and points - waiting for some wonderful kid to go get the ball and bring it back to her. There is always somebody who wants the whining to end. She does it at home too. She'll drop something and then wait for someone to go get it for her. She's not as successful at home though. And we can't forget the berries - she loves all of them - particularly the rasp, black and straw kind - The blue ones are okay.
