We had signed up for basketball CAMP - which was in the afternoon for 1 week. It was a great camp - only about 7-9 kids were there. There were about 4 high school kids and 2 HS basketball coaches. And that I thought that was our basketball experience. In fact I was pleased we were done - even had several conversations about how nice it was to have our afternoons back.
He was talking with one of his friends at child care in town yesterday. The friend told my Early Bird that EB was on a roster for basketball.
So last evening after our dinner guest left our house, we talked a bit about it. And I looked at the receipt. Sure enough, basketball was a paid for activity! And we missed some! He was very sad about this and curled up in the fetal position in the rocking chair. Berry Princess told him he needs to go to his room when he needs to cry. (She cries at all sorts of things, and we often tell her she needs to pull it together in her room.) She climbed up on the chair with him, and he was annoyed that she was there. She started crying harder than he was.
We got out the calendar to see how many practices were still left - no sense dwelling on what we had missed. So next week we also add to our summer schedule basketball 2 days each week and a game in the evening. Early Bird got out the calendar and the purple marker to add these things to our color coded calendar.
