We have a new nickname for Daughter. She has entered the stage of not being able to talk much, but she knows what she wants and how to ask for it. So here's how it goes. . . She walks up to you makes a humming noise and points at something. Usually that means we are to follow to see something new or awesome. We don't really know until we get there.
It is amazing how useful the hum is . . .You can use it for a "uhuhhh" and a shake of the head for "no," a "ghuh" with a lift at the end for "What is that? or Why can't I do that?," and a "hugh" with a swallow for "yes, that sounds good." The best one is the growl or "ggggrrrrr" for "What are you doing with MY stuff" or "I don't want that" or "Get away from me!"
So for our little Lassie the hum is just a good as a bark! So far Lassie doesn't bite!
