Things we've learned lately part dos

This has been a challenging summer. Usually, I've prided myself on the things that I have accomplished on any particular day, parading Hubby around to show off the things that I did. This summer has been different. We tried to sell our house and move into town.

Many days this summer the kids and I or just I sat around wallowing in wonder about what was going to happen. All right, so the kids weren't wallowing - sometimes they were outside playing, inside fighting or generally whining about going swimming - which we weren't b/c it was cold! In reality we were waiting by the phone for "that guy" to call back or waiting for "that guy" to come inspect the house, inspect the well, inspect the septic, sample the soil, inspect the furnace. "That guy" is really several different guys who are all very good at what they do and busy. So came a brief list of things that I have learned the summer.

1. How the septic system works.
2. The septic guy who charged us for having our septic pumped last year, lost his license this winter.
3. The septic drainfield is in the process of failing
4. It could sometime back up into the house.
5. The state has done some major changes to the waste water codes and it has impacted us so that we don't just have to replace the septic system.
6. The septic drain field needs to be at least 50 feet from the well if the well casing is 50 feet deep.
7. Our casing is only 37 feet deep.
8. How the well works: the external pressure tank, the casing diameter, the casing depth, the odd contraption on top of the well.
9. The guy who put in the well put it in in 1973, lost his license in 1977.
10. A new well and a new septic are SO expensive. GRRRRR
11. Apparently the buyers who wanted our house didn't want to pay for this!
12. I don't either.

There was some time in June and July that I didn't spend working on house learning: We still needed to go to swimming lessons for both kids and tball for Early Bird. I went I sat and socialized with the Mom's, Dad's and Grandparents!

1. Early Bird is quite the little athlete - He learned to ride bike w/o training wheels, swim from the diving board to the ladder and play baseball.
2. Berry Princess is quite the little "athlete" - She can run FAST, twirl and hop on 1 foot 1 time!
3. Berry Princess may turn into the "Curious Queen."  For example, "Daddy, where you going?" "Mommy, we go somewere?" "Why you putting yo sues on?"

During the weekends we traveled 6 weekends in a row! There were so many things to see and do I'm not even sure what I'm going to write here - I'll have to go back and look at the pictures!

The Twins game was an awesome experience! Thanks to Mom and Dad for taking the boys with you on the field.

Brian really has stinky feet!

We were even able to fit in some water fighting with our friends - How did we do that before it got cold?

Prarie clothes are SUPER comfortable!

My girl can wear my "Little House" dress.

We can count bats!

My little brother is big!

My niece doesn't like me :(

I've decided that it hasn't been too bad!

I've learned a lot!

We just sit tight in our house, call the well guy and septic guy.

We even accomplished a few projects this month.

And soon go back to school and do purposeful work.

And Early Bird goes to Kindergarten!
