We hit the ground running this year. What is more basic than sexual reproduction? Things I heard today in Biology:
Plant sex:
"The seeds are in the middle of the carrot. You can see them when you cut it open."
"So corn is like a fetus?"
In reference to the pollen (sperm) traveling down the silks of corn: "Ewwww! Hey, I've eaten those strings!"
Chicken sex:
"What color is the male chicken?"
"What color chicken do we eat?"
"When the egg is fertilized, it gets a black dot on it."
"How does the sperm get past the shell?"
"Am I eating something that would be a chicken?"
"How does the chicken eat the yolk?"
"An unfertilized egg doesn't have a yolk." I guess that is why the egg stays white!
An I can't remember much before the last hour class.
