I know candy don't really swim around much, but they sure are fun to catch. On Friday morning Early Bird started talking about this game they had played at the daycare Christmas party on Thursday. He was extatic about it. He told me how to do it, and then did it! It took the entire day to build and then play! There was really no time for a nap - He was much too busy!
First you ask mom to draw a candy cane on a piece of paper - feel free to repeat as much as you want - after all she's got all kinds of time. Then cut them out and color them like candy canes. Add a paper clip to each candy cane.
Then find the tube mom used to wrap Christmas presents and use that to make a fishing pole. Disappear for a while and go find some yarn in Grandma Great's yarn chest. (We haven't even looke in the yarn chest for MONTHS! How did he remember it was there?) Pull out 2 pieces of yarn - one for yourself and one for your sister. Wrap it around the end of the tube to make a fishing pole. 
Tie a magnet to the end of the fishing pole so you can catch the candy canes.
Take a break for some lunch. Alphabet soup is a good one for a day like today - be sure to find the letters of your name.

This is best done as a catch and release program. They don't taste very good!
It also works well as a cat toy!
