Oreos, Kix, blueberries, and guess who!

As we were leaving the vet (Yeah, Rosie needs special food so that she doesn't pee blood - grrrr), I noticed that there were about 4 police cars at the stop light in town. (We do really only have 1 stoplight - it is the only one in the county!) I called Pete. He was at the light right that moment! He said that they were probably getting ready for John McCain to drive through town.

Well, hearing that, we had to stay and watch the festivities. Since it was 5 min to 5, the kids were hungry. We scrounged the car for snacks and found some oreos (what a mess!), some kix (not sure how old!) and I had some blueberries left from lunch. So we set up a picnic in the van to see if we could see John McCain drive through. 10 minutes into our wait and the snacks were nearing their end, and the police parked in front of the traffic. No getting by them. Another 5 minutes later and we see the lights of the motorcycles - then the police car - then the SUV's - then the 8 14 passenger vans - then the bus - then the other cars - then some regular old people driving regular old cars and trucks. Thiry seconds later, and it was over - just like that!

We learned a new word today - motorcade. Now Early Bird goes to daycare and tells his republican friend about seeing the motorcade of John McCain. Sounds like he feels pretty cool. Right? Ohhhh no, he was hugely - is that a word? - disappointed that he didn't really get to see John McCain. You know, tears that he missed it! So we also learned about how they get to ride is super cool cars with all kinds of security guys - We also learned "Secret Service."

Then we got home, and told Daddy all about it. I tried to tell Early that John McCain might be the next President. To which he said "Barack Obama said he was going to be the next President." (Apparently he said "IF I'm the next President . . . " at the rally.) Berry Princess chimed in with "'Bama."

We talked about how Sarah Palin and John McCain are on the same team, and Barack Obama and Joe Biden are on the same team. "What do they play?" My reply, "Talking contests - like you saw on TV the other night."

We all giggled and settled in for a few minutes of the Barack Obama channel. Really - check it out!
